The past two years has increased awareness of the diverse technological tools that support experiential learning for UT undergraduates; attendees of this session will learn about a specific set of projects being piloted and will have opportunities to talk with the faculty who are implementing them.
This workshop will provide the opportunity to critically reflect on what diversity means to you and how you demonstrate a commitment to diversity, as well as to begin articulating how these values are apparent in your current practice and future goals.
A discussion of Assessment in Creative Disciplines: Quantifying and Qualifying the Aesthetic (David Chase, J. Joseph Hoey IV and Jill L. Ferguson))
Discussion can be an effective classroom tool to reach a variety of course goals. In this session, you will identify course goals you may achieve through discussion, consider instructor anxieties regarding discussion, learn tools to facilitate effective discussions online, and gain knowledge about a range of discussion schemes and strategies.
Spring Semester 2022 Book Discussion Group. We will be reading What Inclusive Instructors Do: Principles and Practices for Excellence in College Teaching by Tracie Marcella Addy, Derek Dube, Khadijah A. Mitchell, and Mallory E. SoRelle Stylus 2021.
The purpose of this workshop is two-fold: 1) to introduce participants to the Students as Partners Approach as one example of an equitable teaching practice and 2) to provide participants with an opportunity to brainstorm how they can also partner with their students in their own courses. We will explore these topics by hearing from students in the DEI concentration who participated in the SAP approach to course design and dialoguing about how this approach can be applied to your course.
