That One Thing… Canvas Edition (TOT) – Join us over the lunch hour for That One Thing… We will highlight ONE FEATURE in Canvas and take your questions (45min).
SpeedGrader is Canvas' online annotation and grading tool. But you can use this powerhouse for much more than online file submission assignments. We will showcase how to use SpeedGrader for No Submission assignments (with a Rubric), Discussions, Quiz attempts, in addition to the familiar Online File Upload assignment.

Learn the characteristics of an effective teaching statement —including what search committees look for —and begin drafting/refining your statement to vibrantly convey your teaching values and the instructional choices you make to help students achieve learning goals.

Join us Tuesdays in September as Proctorio leads the discussion on online exam security. We will cover basic quiz creation in Canvas and then dive deep into how to enable Proctorio in a Canvas course and add it to a quiz; give an overview of common settings for remote proctoring; and wrap up with a look at the Proctorio Gradebook.

Fall semester meetups will take place every Friday from 1:00-1:45 on Zoom:
- During First Friday, a facilitator will share strategies for online teaching.
- The Second Friday gathering will provide opportunities to practice the strategies.
Social Connections – How can we build community and culture in our courses? Practice some “Mind the Gap” and social connection activities

In this workshop, participants will learn the basic outline of a lesson and practice creating these steps for their own teaching material: the objective, introduction, activity, wrap-up, and assessment. We will dwell on the “activity” stage to discuss scaffolding techniques. Finally, participants will brainstorm assessment methods to check if their lesson plans were successful. Instructors will leave with a useable lesson plan for their classrooms.
