For the final event in our New Faculty Series, join some of your fellow new faculty colleagues for a round robin-style reflection on the semester's successes, challenges, and lessons learned. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with colleagues in small-group and one-on-one settings. Join us for camaraderie, commiseration, and community!
Fall semester meetups will take place every Friday from 1:00-1:45 on Zoom:
- During First Friday, a facilitator will share strategies for online teaching.
- The Second Friday gathering will provide opportunities to practice the strategies.
Assessing Learning – What do we want students to have learned? Aligning what we test and what we want our students to have learned is hard. Listen to some ideas about how to assess what we value in our students’ learning.
Join us for an introductory crash course in the cognitive theories underlying learning and memory. Discover how you can leverage these theories to encourage deep, meaningful, long-lasting learning for your students.
PTF Think Tanks invite instructors to discuss problems and tackle tough topics in a safe environment among a diverse group of fellow faculty. They are led by Provost's Teaching Fellows. This session will focus on designing useful, purpose-driven learning modules for your online and hybrid courses.

Workshop for instructors to explore and practice evidence-based teaching strategies for dealing with tense classroom moments
This next New Faculty Series event will offer the opportunity to connect with other new faculty away outside of Zoom by connecting on Spatial.Chat, a three-dimensional video conferencing platform. This social will contain a series of conversational topics hosted by Provost's Teaching Fellows from a variety of departments and colleges, all of which are designed to take a break from the semester and spend time getting to know fellow colleagues.

Students Teaching Students – How can we share the responsibility? “The person who does the work, does the learning.” See how we can encourage students to learn by sharing.
Please join us for the Faculty Innovation Center's sixth biannual Inclusive Teaching and Learning Symposium. Day one will take place on Oct. 27.
