What are PTF Think Tanks?
The Provost's Teaching Fellows Think Tanks are collaborative discussions focused on innovative approaches to teaching and learning. Think Tanks provide a platform for instructors of all levels to exchange ideas, receive feedback, and implement practices that enhance the educational experience at UT. By fostering a community of learning and support, the PTF Think Tanks contribute significantly to the advancement of teaching excellence.
Upcoming Think Tanks
- Compassionate Pedagogy (October 16th)
- The idea of expressing compassion in our classrooms might mean many things. It might even feel counter intuitive to how we were taught. Join Professors Sarah Sloan and Mary Beer for an opportunity to hear about and share ideas on the effectiveness of compassionate pedagogy in our contemporary teaching and learning.
- Learning From Failure (November 19th)
- We've all heard the phrase "Fail Forward" or "I have not failed, but just found 10,000 ways that won't work," but how much does that resonate in the classroom? Is there a way to teach, providing opportunities for safe failures without being punitive or negatively impacting the grade? After a bazillion years of teaching, I think so and look forward to having a fruitful conversation on cultivating an environment ripe for teaching, failing, and learning.
- Teaching with AI (January TBD)
