Associate Professor of Instruction

Mick McQuaid graduated with the PhD degree from the University of Arizona in 2003 and has been teaching for almost all the time since, with just a year as a post-doc at Carnegie Mellon and two years as a computing security expert at University of Michigan. He has taught at University of Michigan, University of Oregon, and Rochester Institute of Technology. Mick grew up in an Air Force family and moved around the United States quite a bit. In his spare time he plays Irish traditional flute and Uilleann pipes and does woodworking. He has a wonderful family including two adorable teenagers. mickmcquaid.com

Collaborative Learning Between Designers & Developers

User experience (UX) designers in industry create design prototypes and hand them off to software developers to implement in code which is returned to the designers for feedback. Typically, designers follow an iterative cycle comprising the circle of design, prototype, and test. This cycle is repeated until the product meets the desired user experience.
