Lori Holleran Steiker

The PTF program mourns the loss of PTF co-founder and alumna Lori Holleran Steiker, who passed away in September 2024. Lori was a fierce advocate for students, especially through SHIFT, and was also an Associate Dean in the Undergraduate College. Lori Holleran Steiker, PhD, was the Steve Hicks Professor of Addiction, Recovery and Substance Use Services at the Steve Hicks School of Social Work, a University Distinguished Teaching Professor, and the Director of Instruction, Engagement and Wellness in the School of Undergraduate Studies at The University of Texas at Austin.
She had been a member of the UT Austin faculty since 2000 and held the Steve Hicks Professorship of Addiction and Substance Use Services beginning in Fall 2018. She also held faculty appointments at the UT Dell Medical School Department of Psychiatry and the Baylor College of Medicine Department of Family and Community Medicine. In addition, she served as Director of Instruction, Engagement and Wellness in the School of Undergraduate Studies and had been named the incoming Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies.

UT Provost's Teaching Fellows Initiative (Changing Education: Redesigning the Undergraduate Experience)
The 2017 Provost's Teaching Fellows Steering Committee prepared this poster as part of the Symposium Changing Education: Redesigning the Undergraduate Experience, hosted by Project 2021 and the Faculty Innovation Center at UT Austin on March 30, 2017. The format included keynote presentations punctuated by short talks and plenty of time for discussions in breakout sessions.
