In this four-part Early Career book club, participants will read and discuss Learner-Centered Teaching: Putting the Research on Learning Into Practice, by Terry Doyle (2011). Participants will receive a copy of the book. They are also welcome to peruse an online version of the book available through the UT Library website.
Terry Doyle presents a Learner-Centered Teaching approach to teaching that draws on current brain research on cognition and learning to present engaging strategies that you can use in the classroom. The text is informed by the questions and concerns raised by faculty from over sixty colleges with whom Terry Doyle has worked; and on the response from an equal number of regional, national and international conferences at which he has presented on topics related to LCT.
Join us for 4 weekly sessions to discuss some of these strategies and how we apply them in our own classes. It is beneficial if you can attend all 4 sessions. Books will be provided before the sessions starts. Snacks will be provided.
