The theme for this fall's symposium is Activating Inclusivity in Learning Environments, and we've identified the following guiding questions to center our presentations and keynote speaker around:

• How does my positionality hinder action or empower me to take action?
• What tools am I using on campus to take action toward anti-racism?
• How can I incorporate anti-racism in my learning environments?

Based on these driving questions, the Center for Teaching and Learning invites UT staff, instructors, and students to submit a proposal for an interactive workshop that features your expertise, experiences, and gives instructors actionable takeaways that can be applied in their learning spaces. Selected presenters will be compensated with a stipend to honor their contributions to this event.

Interactive workshop proposals should address the following elements:

• Interactivity. Lecture-style presentations are discouraged—research shows that a maximum of 10-12 minutes of lecture, followed by an interactive activity, is best for learners. Please see attached image for more information and an example of this.
• Transferability. In designing your workshop, please consider opportunities for participants to embrace and/or utilize your strategies/ideas in their own professional contexts. Presenters and audience members for past ITL symposia have included faculty, graduate student instructors, instructional staff, administrative staff, and University leadership.
• Actionable steps. A successful proposal will include tangible takeaways for participants to utilize after the Symposium ends. These can include a worksheet, infographic, handout, simple slide deck, or other virtual or PDF resource. (For example, if the presentation is about the process for auditing a syllabus through an antiracist lens, a takeaway would be a guide allowing participants to walk through the process of auditing their own syllabi.)

Here are some details about the day that we think would be helpful:

• The symposium will be held on the mornings of Tuesday, October 27 through Thursday, October 29 from 8:30-1:00 on Zoom. We will narrow down the final dates to two of those mornings based on speaker availability.
• Alongside a Keynote presentation, one-hour workshop sessions will take place throughout the two half-day Symposium sessions.

Proposal submissions will be accepted until October 13 at 9:00am.
